Jacquelyn’s Etsy Store & Shows

For all you crafty boys and babes out there, Jacquelyn has an Etsy store where you can purchase handmade clothing, wallets and wearable art by the woman herself, as well as BF vinyl, zines, albums and artwork! Click here to peruse the store, or view a quick sample in the gallery below.

On March 31st we will be playing the High Noon Saloon in Madison, WI with Peter Wolf Crier and Milagres. This is the Saturday before our April 5th show with Youth Lagoon at the Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee, WI. Both shows are only $10, and tickets can be purchased at high-noon.com and pabsttheater.org respectively.

We will be playing jammers from the new album, which is still available for preorder here at our store with a FREE zine and album bundle! There are only a handful left, so be sure to get yours in time.

It’s something like 70 degrees out, and all of Wisconsin is running wild in the sun. Happy Spring, sweetheart.

‘Hey All You Floridians’ Free Preorder Bundle!

Our new album, ‘Hey All You Floridians‘ is now available for preorder here. It will be released by us on Tuesday, April 3rd on extremely limited, hand-numbered and high-quality CDs in 100% recycled packaging. All album orders placed before April 3rd will receive a free copy of the Sleeping in a Torn Quilt / Dreaming of Gold literary zine, and all orders of the zine will include a free copy of the album. They’re over half gone as it is, so you’ll want to act fast, because they’re looking to sell out before the release date! A preview of the zine is streaming here on Youtube, and here on Vimeo.

Hey All You Floridians‘ is as close to a concept album as we’ve come thus far, featuring eight songs recorded in our second-story apartment throughout the soggy summer of 2011, all swelling around themes of Donivan’s time spent living and growing up in the ‘Sunshine State.’ Stream the first single and title track, ‘Hey! All You Floridians‘ below:

Insound featured us as their ‘Free MP3 of the Week’ this week. They say Jacque plays “every underrated instrument” imaginable. “Banjo, accordion, glockenspiel, flute and harmonica fill out the spaces between the couple’s harmonies to provide a full sound that you’d be surprised to know comes from just four musicians.” Ha! So if that’s why you’re here, well…welcome!

Don’t forget to snag your ’10 Buck’ tickets to our April 5th show at Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom with Youth Lagoon and Porcelain Raft, here!

Turner Hall and a New Zine!

It’s 2012, and we’ve been busy! So we’re happy to announce a thing or two here while it’s still winter.

Firstly, Donivan is publishing a literary zine called Sleeping in a Torn Quilt / Dreaming of Gold. The zine is handmade and extremely high-quality, at 50 pages packed with stories, poems, essays and artwork by folks like Sharon Van Etten, Sarah Jurado, Peter Pisano, Nada Alic, Will Schaff and many, many others!

The physical edition is limited to 100 copies, so you’ll want to preorder yours fast at our store, before they sell out. We’ll also have PDF and online editions. The zine will be released on Tuesday, April 3rd. More info can be found at the ‘Torn Quilt’ Facebook page.

On April 5th, we’re opening up shop for Youth Lagoon at Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom. We haven’t played Milwaukee in almost a year, so this is a must-see that’s sure to juice your goose. It’s a $10 show, and tickets can be purchased here. Doors are at 7PM, and we go on at 8.

More good things coming as winter draws to a close!

Daytrotter And A New Storefront!

Alright you goons, we have a short snip of winter
news here for you! Firstly, back in September, on a tour which many of you so generously funded, we stopped through the quad cities on the Illinois/Iowa border and recorded a Daytrotter session. It was in the basement of a beautiful old school building, with a bright white sun gleaming in through those narrow slit windows and lighting up a room full of vintage instruments and shiny microphones. We couldn’t believe our eyes. And as two giant reels of tape spun round, soon we couldn’t believe our ears either. You can listen to the session here, while you’re reading a(n as always) beautifully crafted essay and our very own water color rendering! For free!

Daytrotter:
“The part of southeast Wisconsin where Blessed Feathers hail from must be one where the majority of the state’s spooks live. Berube and fellow lead singer/multi-instrumentalist Jacquelyn Beaupre (along with Jordan Knowles and Steev Baker) bring the mischievous dusk into our hearts and Beaupre, in particular, makes us soften to its advances.

Also, we have a brand new online storefront, run by us! Place your holiday (and beyond!) orders here and we’ll be sending you packages on the hustle. Here’s to winter, friends. And all the beauty that it brings. We’re just waitin’ on that snow to fall…

‘From The Mouths Of The Middle Class’ Out Today!

We’re so, so excited that our new album is out in the world today. You can order ‘From The Mouths Of The Middle Class‘ now on white vinyl/MP3 from Listening Party Records, white cassette from Cakes & Tapes and white CD from us. All here!

Thanks to about 50 of our most generous friends and family, we successfully reached our Kickstarter goal and were able to pay for the rental van that took us from West Bend, WI to Raleigh, NC. From Washington, DC to Minneapolis, MN and back home. It was a surreal trip, that started with a villainous break-in and ended with a man named Dr. Tinker Paw. We can’t thank you all enough, and will be eternally indebted to you.

Shepherd Express (Milwaukee, WI):
“Like many of the best folk albums of the last decade, From the Mouths is an insular affair with a distinct sense of place.”

“Restlessness saturates these songs. “How I long to hang our clothes on the line,” Berube sings on the album closer “Winter Sister.” Elsewhere his cabin fever spurs more dramatic fantasies. “By Song Through The Americas” and “Smoky Mountain Relapse (Nashville, Let Us Sleep)” imagine long journeys through the South. Though these treks are fraught with burdens—difficult terrains, compounding debts and general sacrifice—they reflect a pervasive yearning for adventure, or a desire to be somewhere else.”

Hot Lunch Collective:
“In short it’s the kind of album that when put on you stop whatever you’re doing and reflect and prepare. It’s the perfect soundtrack for the transition from the excitement of summer to the somberness and beauty of fall. The sway created by the accordion and the tender hold of the gentle plunking banjo will take you on one of the more relaxing listening experiences of recent memory.”

Enjoy the new record, and we hope to see or hear from you very, very soon!
